Q1:

What materials are available?

A: This Hammock is available in Cotton or Polyester.

Q2: When ordering this product, do I get the frame as well? I am only interested in the actual hammock as I already have the frame, so how do I just order the hammock itself?

A: Yes, this product is the hammock only.  

Q3: Which material is more durable for outside? What is the weight limit?

A:

Polyester stands up to weather better than cotton and this hammock has a weight capacity or limit of 450 lbs.

Q4: I'm not sure whether to order cotton or polyester rope. We do have mildew problems in our back yard, so I'm leaning toward polyester. But is the cotton more comfortable?

A:

Due to the mildew and the humidity listed, your best bet is polyester it is more resistant to the elements than it's cotton counterpart. Cotton is softer and many people do find this to be more comfortable than the polyester however the ability to enjoy your hammock for years to come is a measure of comfort as well.

Q5: Do you have to hang it on the frame or can you hang it on trees?

A:

You can do both. If you were looking for a stand, our best selling metal stand is HSHS10 (in different colors) and our best selling wood stand is KV034. If you want to hang via a tree - we have 4 options. NE003 or EC148 are straps sets that wind around your tree but no bolts go into the tree. If you need something for studs or plan on attaching to a tree - then USI018 or NE007 are your best options. All of the above will easily handle HIB01 and the weight capacity.

Q6: quite a few reviews complaint about sagging especially if they use the stand, how can i make sure it will work for us?

A:

Rope hammocks made from cotton will sag a bit more than their polyester counterpart. So if you are concerned, polyester would be a bit stiffer and hold it's form better. Rope hammocks overall will typically settle and sag some as they stretch over time. If you plan to have the hammock out most of the year, it may help to hang a notch higher on the chains (if using a stand) over the course of the year for tautness - you'll need two people to tighten/stretch effectively.

Q7: I have 20 feet between my trees and want a double hammock.  Which do you think would work?

A:

While even the largest hammocks we sell have a maximum hanging distance of 16 feet, you would be able to make this work with our 10 ft Tree Straps, Item# NE003.  These long straps would make up for the additional feet you need.  Be sure to string your hammock taunt!

Q8: What should be the minimum distance between two trees?

A: The hanging distance should be Minimum of 13ft, Maximum of 16ft.

Q9: Is this hammock available in other colors?

A: The Island Bay XL is not available in different colors.  You may like the Original Pawleys Island Duracord Hammock, Item# HS587.  It's a rope hammock with spreader bars, similar to the Island Bay, but it's available in six colors.
