Q1: How high does the hammock need to be hung (between two trees) so that it does not touch the ground when holding 600lbs?

A: We recommend having the hanging points at roughly 5 1/2 ft. high. If the hammock sags too much, raise the hammock up the tree until you have enough clearance.

Q2: Do the ends have loops so the hammock can be hung from hooks?

A: Yes, there is a loop on each end for easy hanging.

A: This hammock comes in a large size that will fit 1 person comfortably and has a 350-lb. weight capacity.  The item number is HA003.

Q5: Can the hammock hang from a frame?

A: This hammock can hang on a frame - USI012 is our non-spreader bar hammock stand.

Q6: How long is the hammock. Another way of asking is, how far apart must the two trees or posts be?

A: The hammock overall is 14 ft. 8 in. If you are looking to hang the hammock, you would hang from two points at minimum 10 feet apart and maximum 12/13 feet apart - adjusting the height of the hammock to account for the dip once someone has climbed in to enjoy.

Q7: I have a distance of 11 1/4 ft. between two wooden tree columns in my loft. Since this item is 14ft. 8in in total length, and there is only about 11ft. distance, it seems that it should be hung starting at 8 or 10 ft. and not 5 1/2 that is recommended. Is this going to be okay or should I exchange for a smaller size hammock?

A: The 5 ft. reference is more for height - the actual distance from one hammock point to another - should have a min 10 ft. and max of 12 feet width and starting around 5 1/2 feet high or off the floor, adjusting as needed for weight sag.

Q8: If I'm getting the tree straps do I still need a hammock hanging kit?

A: We recommend our hanging kit as NE007 but if you have the straps and the hooks to hang the hammock you can try to do it that way without the hanging kit

Q9: I have trees that are 22 feet and more apart - is that too far to hang a hammock? I do not know.

A: 22-ft is too long for a hammock. Our longest overall hammocks are 13-ft. We do carry hammocks stands. Item # USI012 is our non-spreader bar hammock stand and would work well with this hammock.

Q10: I only have a 10 foot space between two trees. Do you have a hammock small enough to fit that space?

A: Based on the information provided, we recommend the Island Bay Northshore Space Saver Rope Hammock, item# DP022.  It has room for one person with a 350 pound weight capacity. If you'd rather have a large hammock like this XXL Mayan, we suggest pairing it with a stand, item# USI012.

Q11: How do I wash my hammock? I have one nylon hammock, and one cotton. They are both Mayan hammocks without spreader bars. I was told I could put them into a pillowcase, and then into the wash machine. Is this true?

A: Machine Washing Care: Holding the two hanging end rings in your hands, bring them together, folding the hammock in half. Tie the hammock together with string just below the hanging rings. Tie the hammock together again, at the opposite end, and once more in the middle of the hammock. This should prevent the metal rings from becoming entangled with the string bed of the hammock, and the strings themselves from getting tangled as well. Put the tied up hammock into a pillowcase, and tie the pillowcase closed. Be sure to tie it securely, as the washing machine has rigorous agitation, and you do not want the hammock to come out of the pillow. Use mild detergent to wash. It's important to not use bleach. After washing, carefully remove hammock from pillowcase and untie. Hang up hammock and spread out as much as possible to dry completely
