They will in most cases, however because normal hammock stands have only about 4' in height at the ends, the hammock has to be hung fairly flat, without much curve so that your butt doesn't
"bottom out". This means that you lose some of the width that the hammock
will expand too when there is more curve in it. Basically the flatter the hammock is
strung the less width.
Can these hammocks be left out in the rain or sun?
Yes, however the elements will take their toll on any natural fabric over time, so we
recommend taking it down and hanging it somewhere that is sheltered if you won't be using
it for a while or if you know it will be raining for a few days. This way you don't
have to wait for it to dry out as well. The sun will fade the colors over time so
the less exposure the longer the colorfastness will remain.
How far apart do
the trees or points of attachment have to be?
Anywhere from 8 - 10ft to 25 -30ft providing you have enough height to attach
the hammock and get the proper curve you need for optimum comfort. You will need
extra long lengths of rope to get the distance for further points.
We try our best to pick out a hammock with your color choices. If you want a special
order with a specific color pattern we can have one produced, but please allow 6 weeks for
delivery and add 15% to price.
We recommend that people with young children especially 6 and under do not leave their
kids alone unattended in the hammock. It may be wise to keep the hammock hanging
lower to the ground if your kids will be swinging in it. We all know what kids are
like! If the hammock is not being used currently, then it should be taken down when
unattended in this case. Read the instructions to the children to insure they
understand how to use it and what not to do! Play it Safe!
Using our hanging hardware or any strong fastener, you can screw the hooks into any solid
wall or ceiling stud or beam. Ensure that it is completely screwed in as far as it
can go for safety. Also make sure the stud or beams are not rotting or old and
decayed.
What is the difference between cotton and nylon Mayan hammocks?
Cotton string, by nature, will stretch a bit more than nylon string will. Theoretically this means that cotton is the more comfortable of the two. However, nylon demonstrates greater durability against long-term exposure to elements such as rain. Nylon also has a higher breaking point. The cotton will conform better to the body; the nylon is stronger. We always remind customers that sensible care will guarantee many years of enjoyment from your "dangerously comfortable" hammock, no matter which material is chosen.
What type of weave is used in the manufacture of your hammocks?
Our "Dangerously Comfortable" Hammocks have a triple-weave design which is the finest and tightest weave style that is made. A single or double string woven pattern tend to have a looser weave and larger interstices (spaces) for your body parts to fall through! So, rest-assured that you will receive a tightly woven web of comfort when you buy from Hammocks.com.
