Before you place your hammock on the deck, you'll want to keep in mind the weather conditions, insects and animals in your area, and the amount of space you have allotted.

When choosing a hammock for your climate, your options on most hammocks are either cotton and nylon or cotton and polyester. Cotton is the most comfortable fabric, but cannot withstand an extreme amount of moisture or salt water air. Polyester and nylon fabrics both are very durable and strong and will withstand harsh elements.

Both insects and animals can be a danger to your hammock. If you have many small rodents in your yard area, you'll want to consider a polyester hammocks, either rope or Nicaraguan. Or you may also consider a hammock without wood spreader bars and include the protective sleeve, which protects your hammock while hanging but not in use.

In addition, please note the length and width of the area(s) you plan on using. Hammocks.com recommends not picking your mounting points until you receive your hammock due to the fact that some handmade hammocks may vary slightly in length. You have the option of using a stand or mounting to beams on your deck. You can also mount to a deck ceiling, but you'll need to purchase special hanging hardware if your ceiling is masonry. Our hanging hardware will fit into ceiling studs through drywall or just wood.
