Ideally, cotton hammock chairs are used on a covered porch or area protected from elements. If you plan to keep your hammock chair inside for sleeping, cotton is the hands down winner.

Hammock chairs made from nylon provide virtually unsurpassed durability. As a synthetic material, nylon provides the ability to produce beautiful and vibrant color hues. The nylon hammock will stand up to the elements extremely well, retain their color longer than cotton and the weave is incredibly strong. However, nylon does not have the same soft and comfortable feel of cotton and some consider nylon to be a bit stiff in comparison. If you want a low maintenance hammock chair that will last for several seasons, nylon hammock chairs will fit the bill nicely.
