Keep it All Inside Picture this: it's a breezy summer Saturday, and you're in the backyard in your gently swaying hammock, enjoying a book and a glass of lemonade, having pretty much the best afternoon you can imagine. Now picture this: it's a brutally cold winter Saturday, and you're staring out the window at your snow-covered yard, wishing you could recreate how you felt last summer. Why give up this comfort just because the weather gets cold? Don't get bummed out; get an indoor hammock. Any outdoor hammock will work indoors, provided you have the space and the means to hang it. For hanging a hammock indoors permanently, you can purchase hammock hanging hardware to attach your hammock to support beams, walls, and ceilings. (It's important to attach the hammock to a beam that will support the necessary weight. You can use an electronic stud finder to find such a beam; if you need help, ask at your local home improvement store.) | ![]() #1 Selling Handmade Mayan Hammock Chair! |
If you want your hammock to be a more temporary and portable feature, you should probably go with a hammock stand. These come in various styles and materials and are compatible with all kinds of hammocks, including hammock chairs and hammocks with and without spreader bars. When choosing an indoor hammock stand, consider how the material will affect the floor. For example, if you're using an indoor hammock in an area that might be damp (screened-in porch), you might want a wooden or stainless steel hammock stand that won't leave rust marks on the floor.
Indoor hammock chairs are particularly useful if you don't have a lot of space; these can also be hung from a support beam or on a freestanding hammock stand.
